Trippy Technology

June 27th, 2010

A few weeks ago in one of my future trends classes, we explored the different technologies that are entering into fashion. While Iwas searching for new technologies today, I found a link to a site that claims a company has a textile that reduces the shock waves. The technology of the fabric, Zetix, is suppose to reduce shock waves by 25%! This is an amazing fabric that will be used for the military and other armed forces in deadly situations. Although, 25% isn’t that much of a improvement from a insanely strong shock wave, I believe that company will create improvements very soon to make the perfect fabric for these brave men and women.

The 70’s Go On

March 11th, 2010

As we all know, the 1970’s styles have made a comeback for the past two years and it doesn’t look like it is over yet. The flower patterns of the 70’s have returned again this Spring. Every single piece of fabric my grandmother had gave me from a curtain, is now a pattern seen on a blazer or dress (mostly noted in Diane Von Furstenburg’s collection.) If the curtain patterns are not enough for you, then just look at the outrageous hairstyles. Completely teased out inches of puff-balled hair hit the runway in Lous Vuittons collection. The Louis Vuitton collection also had hints of the 70’s everywhere in the fringed purses, biker shorts, wood shoes, and side purses that screamed business women meets the streets. Already, cheaper priced stores like Forever 21 have started to display a ton of floral printed shirts in neon colors to pastels as well as adorable shorts with navy and white floral print. Below are a few pictures of the 1970’s styles from recent shopping trips and the runway.

Flats in the Summer

February 11th, 2010

I never realized how many pairs of flats I owned until this week when I had to start packing up for some condo renovations. I own about ten pairs (that’s quite a lot for me.) Five of those pairs of flats  all look the same though! Black, leather, and some sort of pattern the way the leather is accented on the front of the shoe. I began researched some bright colorful flats though that would be fun for summer. Marc Jacobs has by far the cutest pairs! His collection of shoes with this collection all have a cute cartoon girl on them with bright bold stripes all on patent leather. The shoes are definetly versatile because you could put them with a white, black or nude colored shirt and they’d complete the outfit. Also, I’ve included the Beverly Feldman ‘Amara’ flat shoe (pictured first), which is something I could never pull off, but i’d love to see somebody wear those who can make them look good.

Not Tight Enough

January 14th, 2010
What is definetly going to be seen a lot this year? Leather! Yes, you saw it make a comeback in Fall 2009, but in 2010 it will be everywhere. The recent Spring 2010 fashion shows showcased a few interesting pieces of leather clothing items. One of these items was a leather dress done by Chanel. A short dress, with v-neck, and long sleeves, this dress made leather look incredibly comfortable. There were many other leather dresses as well done by Balmain, Leather pants also had become tighter on the runway. Pants with drawstrings that were as tight as leggings seemed to be the trend for designers paired up with a baggy cotton t-shirt. Of course, the leather accescories are back in as well as: boots, sandals, headbands, purses, and anything else that can embellished with leather. Below are a few Balmain clothing pieces I would love to own:

What’s Going On?

January 11th, 2010

I am needing to make a logo for this website. I am probably going to have my boyfriend’s co-worker make one, i am just not sure what it should be. I want this logo to be used for a Twitter and maybe even Facebook site. I am assuming it should be of me since this is a blog page? But then again, maybe I should make a logo for the site? I can’t decide! I’ve also been testing a few layout colors. I am not sure if i need to change this layout so that you may see more pictures rather than just a background and 1 header. In the mean time, I am starting to go back to college classes this week so once again, school work will take up some of my writing time. Check back for another post later on today!
